Conor McGregor opened up about his regrets in his relationship with fiancée Dee Devlin after he was found liable in a civil rape and sexual assault case on Friday, November 22.

The 36-year-old MMA fighter made the comments in a post on Monday, November 25, 2018.

“People want to hear from me,” McGregor began in his post, before claiming that Hand had reached out to him. “I needed time. I know I’ve made mistakes. Six years ago I should never have responded to their missions. I should have closed the party.”

“I should never have left the woman I love most in the world. That’s entirely up to me,” he continued.

McGregor subsequently continued to protest his innocence and claimed that Hand had consented. “As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all witnesses present swore so under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision.”

“I can’t go back and I’m going to move forward,” McGregor continued. “I am extremely grateful to my family, friends and supporters around the world who have stayed by my side.”

Immediately following the court’s decision on November 22, McGregor broke his silence in a now-deleted post on X, saying he was “disappointed” and planned to appeal the decision.

“I will be appealing today’s decision,” McGregor wrote. “The judge’s direction and the modest award that was given were for personal injury, not for serious or exemplary damages. I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all of the evidence reviewed by the DPP. I am now with my family and focused on my future. Thank you.” Thank you for my global support.”

Meanwhile, Hand told reporters after the verdict that she was “overwhelmed” by the support she received during the trial.

“I hope my story reminds all victims of sexual assault that no matter how afraid you may be, you must speak out and continue to fight for justice.”

Devlin, 37, and McGregor first met in 2008 at a Dublin nightclub where she was working at the time.

After more than ten years together, the former UFC champion proposed to Devlin on August 9, 2020, although they have not officially tied the knot yet.

In November 2023, the couple had their fourth child, son Mack.

McGregor and Devlin also share son Conor Jr., born in May 2017; daughter Croai, born January 2019; and son Rian, who arrived in May 2021.
