Cool Down headed to the Phoenix area at the start of this work week

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Dry conditions will continue to bring above-average temperatures on Sunday and Monday.

We are tracking a dry weather system as it passes the region to the north and east Monday through Tuesday. While this system will increase winds, no precipitation is expected.

A wind advisory was issued for parts of western Arizona, including Lake Havasu, on Monday and Tuesday, with gusts of up to 35 mph possible.

High temperatures on Monday will remain in the mid to lower 70s, with overnight lows in the 40s.

This system will bring a cold front over the area, which will be the reason for the increase in winds on Tuesday and a drop in temperatures Tuesday into Wednesday morning.

Temperatures will drop to the mid to upper 60s, which is near normal for this time of year. With dry air, Wednesday morning will be very chilly, with rural desert areas falling to near freezing and temperatures in the valley falling into the upper 40s and lower 30s.

This system does not have a major impact on our weather patterns. A ridge of high pressure will form again by Wednesday and temperatures will rise back above normal into the 70s.
