PHOENIX – Another day of cool and cloudy weather before we warm up again.

Afternoon highs will remain near normal for Friday, in the mid to upper 60s.

This weekend, high pressure will push back into the desert southwest, bringing drier and warmer weather.

Temperatures will slowly warm, falling back into the low 70s on Saturday and mid 70s on Sunday.

The ridge of high pressure will persist into the new year, keeping afternoon high temperatures in the mid-70s.

As of December 26, the average monthly temperature in Phoenix was 63.1 degrees.

That beats the all-time record for December of 61.3 degrees set in 1980.

With above-average temperatures continuing for a little longer, there’s a good chance we’ll break this record.
