Costco Bakery is making this big change to their muffins

Big changes — or rather, smaller changes — are reportedly coming to the Costco bakery, and muffin-loving customers are ready to riot.

The camp apparently didn’t get the “variety is the spice of life” memo because, according to a post on Reddit, Costco is eliminating its 12-count Mix & Match Muffins (two packs of six muffins each) for $9.99 and replaces the deal with a pack of eight muffins of the same flavor for $6.99.

And that’s not the only change: In the comments on the Reddit post, several users noticed something else about the baked goods.

“The new ones are smaller. Maybe about 70% the size of the old ones,” one person said.

Although the eight-piece muffins are $3 cheaper than the previous 12-piece muffins, the math doesn’t work in customers’ favor. In fact, one Redditor did some price comparisons and found that the new muffins are a shocking 58% more expensive per ounce.

“So smaller, more expensive muffins…” says another comment.

As if dealing with smaller, more expensive muffins wasn’t enough, one person explained that they don’t taste the same either

“These are much worse. They are much drier, have less flavor, and are just boring and crumbly. I’m shocked they replaced the muffins because that’s what they’re pretty well known for. I will not buy them again,” they announced.

It’s not just customers who are frustrated by the muffin drama. As a result of the change, Costco employees will likely be tasked with dealing with angry customers.

“One of my best friends is a baker at Costco and she told me that she prepares for a lot of angry customers. The recipes will be completely different, it’s not just the size change,” said one person on Reddit.

Costco, please, we can only take a limited amount per calendar year.
