  • Costco membership also gives shoppers access to the club’s travel deals.
  • The company said its biggest booking last year was a 150-day cruise around the world.
  • CFO Gary Millerchip said the package cost $293,000 for two travelers and included a $38,000 credit.

A Costco member paid nearly $300,000 for a around-the-world cruise package purchased through the warehouse club.

Costco memberships are widely known for providing access to deals on items ranging from toilet paper to gold bars. However, an occasionally overlooked benefit is the club’s travel offerings.

The company offers all types of travel services including vacation packages, car rentals, cruises, hotels and flights. In fact, CFO Gary Millerchip said members rented enough cars last year to fill every U.S. Costco parking lot more than eight times.

Millerchip also announced the biggest cruise booking of the year: “a 150-day, around-the-world cruise that begins in Fort Lauderdale and stops in places like the Galapagos Islands and Easter Island.”

The CFO said the trip cost $293,000 for two travelers in the ship’s owner’s suite and included $13,000 in onboard credit and a $25,000 Costco store card.

Many deals include a store card “as an added value for booking at Costco,” he said.

The company did not specify which cruise line it was, although several of its lines – such as Azamara, Cunard, Holland America and Regent Seven Seas – offer annual world cruise routes.

Cunard and Holland America offer departures from Fort Lauderdale, according to Costco’s travel site, and packages start at about $1,000 for a weeklong itinerary.

Many of these extended voyages around the world have sold exceptionally well in recent years – particularly the Regent Seven Seas.

The luxury cruise line’s 132-night world voyage in 2024 sold out in less than three hours when bookings began in 2021, a record for the company. A year later, the 150-night series was fully booked again in 2025 (the longest to date) before reservations could be opened to the public.
