Video transcript

For many weeks, even when Mike McCarthy took over as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, there was a lot of speculation.

Perhaps owner Jerry Jones is hoping Deion Sanders comes up from the college ranks to coach the Cowboys for the 2025 season.

Now that McCarthy is out of the way, he is no longer the Cowboys’ coach.

According to multiple reports, Jones and Sanders have had discussions about the Cowboys head coaching job.

Obviously, it’s an intriguing pairing if it ever happens.

There’s still a long way to go.

The Cowboys will talk to other candidates.

Sanders would have to decide whether he wanted to leave Colorado for an NFL job, but the headlines would be it.

The outcome of this pairing would be enormous.

We have to ask, will Sanders’ style in college translate to the NFL?

It’s a completely different job.

Sanders had success in Colorado, but could he adapt to the NFL?

And could he work with Jones?

Obviously both guys have big egos, but they also have a long history together.

The last time the Dallas Cowboys reached a Super Bowl, Sanders was one of them.

Stars, he was obviously a big signing for Jones as a free agent in the mid-90s.

They won Super Bowl 30 together, and perhaps Jones will now draw on that history and success to find his next head coach.

We’ll see where this goes.

Sanders and Cowboys still have a long way to go before he becomes their head coach, but the two teams are talking and that will create a lot of discussion during this head coaching cycle.
