Could the Rams make a stunning decision with star Kyren Williams?

The Los Angeles Rams’ offense was largely dominated this year by Kyren Williams, who rushed for 1,299 yards and 14 touchdowns in 16 regular-season games.

But will Williams stay in Los Angeles much longer?

It may seem like a wild question considering how Williams was the engine of the Rams for a few years, but it’s a legitimate topic of discussion.

The 24-year-old is preparing for the final year of his contract, and let’s remember that Los Angeles drafted Blake Corum last April.

And while Williams had great overall yardage this season, his efficiency dipped as he averaged just 4.1 yards per carry. He also fumbled five times.

Running backs have been largely sidelined in today’s game, so the chances of the Rams giving Williams a lucrative long-term contract don’t seem particularly high. Especially not when they have talented young talent in Corum waiting in the starting blocks.

There’s a distinct possibility that Los Angeles could consider trading Williams in the coming months to give Corum more playing time in 2025.

Williams is a good player, but he’s not Saquon Barkley or Christian McCaffrey. He’s expendable, and if the Rams manage to get him a good trade offer, they could pull the trigger.

Let’s remember that Corum, whose season just ended because of a broken forearm, scored 27 rushing touchdowns in his final year at Michigan in 2023. That was enough to lead the entire country.

When Los Angeles selected Corum in the third round of the NFL Draft last April, the move was widely praised, but Corum won’t get much of a chance to showcase his talents as long as Williams remains the featured back.

Obviously, the Rams have several reasons why trading Williams would be a good idea this offseason.

It makes sense from a financial standpoint, as Los Angeles likely doesn’t want to depend on long-term money from a good — not great — halfback who has also had some difficulty staying healthy.

Furthermore, Corum could definitely develop into a better player than Williams.

Be on the lookout for trade speculation surrounding Williams after the playoffs.
