Craig Melvin received a surprise visit from his family on his first day as co-anchor of TODAY.

An overwhelmed Craig wiped away tears as his wife Lindsay Czarniak and their children Delano, 10, and Sybil, 8, walked onto the set. They were followed by Craig’s parents Lawrence and Betty Jo and his brother Ryan.

“When I left this morning, you were all in bed!” Craig exclaimed.

“We faked it,” Lindsay said, laughing.

Craig’s son Delano, who wore a suit for the occasion, took a seat right next to his father in Studio 1A.

“Oh, you’ve got a microphone, buddy,” Craig said, to which Delano proudly replied, “I’m professional!”

Craig has been with NBC News for nearly 14 years and took over the co-anchor spot alongside Savannah Guthrie following the departure of Hoda Kotb.

“It’s surreal and to me it symbolizes faith because you know, you dare to dream a dream and then see it actually come true. That makes me think of a spouse making it to the Super Bowl or something like that game-“ winning catch. That’s what it feels like,” Lindsay shared on January 13.

Craig’s mother, Betty Jo, was also brimming with excitement.

“I have butterflies in my stomach today,” said Betty Jo. She then praised Craig for “always doing his best.”

“He deserves this,” she said as Craig emotionally dabbed at his eyes. “I love you.”

It was a morning full of special surprises, including a recorded message from Hoda, who made her final appearance on January 19th.

“Craig-or!” said Hoda. “It’s your first day. How does it feel? Number one, I’m so proud of you and I wanted to tell you how proud I am of you because number one, you’re going to be amazing.”

“Go get her, Craig. You got this!” Hoda added.
