The woman who accused three Duke University lacrosse players of sexual assault and rape now says she lied about the allegations, nearly two decades after the story was discussed nationally, according to a recent interview she conducted , when she was imprisoned for an unrelated murder.

Crystal Mangum, a former exotic dancer, confessed to lying about the crimes she believes David Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann committed during an interview with the online show “Let’s Talk with Kat,” hosted by former model Katerena DePasquale party in 2006.

“I testified falsely against them by saying that they had raped me when they hadn’t, and that was false, and I betrayed the trust of many other people who believed in me,” Mangum said in the Nov. 13 interview at the North Carolina Correctional Facility for Women. “(I) made up a story that wasn’t true because I wanted validation from people, not God.”
