Current forecast, road condition updates for North Alabama: Black ice possible

Update at 6 p.m.:

Traffic conditions are expected to worsen overnight as temperatures fall to freezing.

According to the National Weather Service, a persistent mix of light rain/snow is moving further east across I-65. It will move out of the area over the next few hours, but road conditions remain dangerous as temperatures fall below freezing.

“As of 6 p.m., all streets in Madison City will remain open except Eastview Drive and Stone Way Trail. We expect road conditions to deteriorate and black ice to form as temperatures fall below freezing overnight. Please use caution if you must travel,” Madison City officials said.
