Curry breaks NBA three-point record as Warriors defeat 76ers | Basketball News

Stephen Curry scores 30 points as he makes all eight 3-point attempts in the Warriors’ 139-105 win over the 76ers.

Stephen Curry had 30 points and made all eight of his 3-point attempts as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 139-105 in San Francisco.

Golden State led 35-19 after the first quarter and extended its 16-point halftime lead to 25 at the end of the third quarter.

Curry had 24 points at the end of the third quarter after shooting 6 of 6 from 3-point range. He scored three straight points early in the fourth period to bring the Warriors to 30 points and left the game when both coaches cleared their benches minutes later.

Jonathan Kuminga added 20 points off the bench while Joel Embiid led the Sixers with 28 points and 14 rebounds.

Curry overcame a right thumb sprain with tape on his right hand, and Embiid overcame a left foot sprain after missing Wednesday’s loss to the Kings.

Philadelphia had its Big Three in Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Paul George, but lost two straight games after winning four straight. The 76ers gave up a season-high number of points, allowing Curry to get going and get a number of open looks from beyond the arc.

Golden State got the start-to-finish win it needed against a 76ers team that had all three stars healthy. The Warriors, who had lost 13 of 17 games, showed glimpses of their crisp and efficient attack, which gave them a 12-3 start.

Curry had 13 points in the third quarter, including back-to-back deep 3s, the second of which he used to give the Warriors an 89-68 lead with 4:49 left in the third quarter. Then Curry raised both arms to his head in mock disbelief.

The Warriors shot 56% (22 of 39) overall from 3-point range and 61% from the field.

Both teams are in action on Saturday, with the Warriors hosting the Grizzlies and the 76ers hosting the Nets.
