Cyberpunk 2077 surprise update 2.2 brings 100 character creation options, 10 new cars and is now live

CDPR is a bunch of liars. Liars in the sense that they keep saying that they are done updating Cyberpunk 2077 and are fully moving on to other projects like a fourth Witcher game and Cyberpunk 2. Well, they’ve once again sneaked in another update to the game, which is now live. Like right now.

In a new livestream, CDPR revealed Update 2.2, which joins Update 2.1 a year ago. A completely new “point” would indicate something reasonably significant, and while it’s not a surprising expansion drop, it’s still something. Here’s what they detailed:

  • Developed with Virtuous, a French support studio that explains how this is done, as CDPR mainly spills over to these other games. It’s not clear whether they will continue to do such patches.
  • The intent of Update 2.2 is to “express more” in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
  • Now more cars you own can change color than before, all sports and luxury brands, including saturation and hue options as well as changing colors of the lights. You can find a car in the wild and “steal” its color or pattern for yourself for a few dollars. You can change your color when you are out of sight of the police to help you escape.
  • 10 new cars have been added to the game that you can purchase, which were previously just sitting on the street and unownable.
  • Johnny can now appear in your car while driving and will respond to you.
  • Camera drone mode in photo mode can now go very far away from your characters, new photo settings, no camera collision. New vertical aspect ratio, but only for PC. New lighting options and depth of field. You can spawn NPCs from the game like Johnny, Panam, Adam Smasher, etc. to be in shot.
  • New photo gallery mode where you can decorate your apartment with your own framed photos.

  • 100 new character creators across all categories, 50% more options since launch. New cyberware faceplates, pupils, brand logos on makeup and nails. New randomizer function.
  • Find secret new things in the city. Very vague. More patch notes coming soon.

CDPR (and now Virtuous) continue to impress. Should I make another V now? Number five? Why not, right?
