Cyclones outlast Texas Tech in overtime

Iowa State basketball suffered an overtime loss to Texas Tech in its final road trip to Lubbock in 2023. But on Saturday, when the Cyclones returned to United Supermarkets Arena for the first time, they were able to earn the victory in overtime.

The third-seeded Cyclones won the hard-fought battle 85-84 to outlast Texas Tech. It is Iowa State’s first road win against the Red Raiders since 2019.

With 4.1 seconds left, Joshua Jefferson was fouled attempting a layup. He went 2-2 from the line and put Iowa State ahead by one point. Texas Tech’s Derrion Williams had a chance at the buzzer, but he missed and the Cyclones held on for the win.
