‘Daily Show’ reveals the ‘saddest’ part of the Pete Hegseth scandal

Last week, former Fox & friends Co-host and Trump’s nominee for defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, has faced a wave of allegations of sexual misconduct, alcohol abuse and financial mismanagement. Recurring in his monologue on Tuesday The Daily Show Host Ronny Chieng tried to figure out which part of these revelations was the most depressing.

Responding to a report that Hegseth once “had to be prevented from joining the dancers on stage at a strip club in Louisiana while drunk,” Chieng responded, “Wow, do you know how hard it is to be the saddest guy in a strip club A lawyer for Hegseth said they would not comment on the “outlandish allegations” published in The New Yorker.

However, Chieng continued, “I mean, a half-naked pregnant woman dancing to pay her medical bills looked at him and said, ‘Damn, this guy needs some help.'”

“Look, you laugh, but doesn’t anyone see the tragedy in it?” said Chieng. “A warrior who is forced to fight when all he really wants to do is go on stage and dance.”

Chieng also made allegations The New Yorker that Hegseth “sexually pursued” his female employees and referred to them as “party girls” and “non-party girls.”

Chieng took out a book called “HR Rules” and said, “Okay, let me check this real quick… Okay, yeah, that’s not allowed.”

“I don’t know what’s worse, that he supposedly divided his female staff into party girls and non-party girls, or that he couldn’t think of a word for ‘non-party,'” Chieng joked.

But most notable for Chieng was the revelation that Hegseth’s own mother doesn’t even seem to like him.

“At least his mother likes him,” Chieng said before showing the email Hegseth’s mother sent him in 2018 during his second divorce. In it she wrote: “You are an abuser of women,” adding: “I have no respect for anyone. Man who belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around and exploits women for his own power and ego.”

Chieng wrote sarcastically on his notepad and replied, “Okay, I’m referring to mom as ‘not a party girl’.”
