Dallas Weather: Flash Flood Warnings are expiring in Dallas, Tarrant Counties

Storms moved through the DFW area on Thursday, bringing heavy rain and some small hail.

Flash flood warnings were issued for several North Texas counties Thursday morning and afternoon, but they have since expired.

A tornado warning has been issued for much of East, Central and Southeast Texas.

After Thursday’s storms, North Texas should remain dry.

Highs will rise to the upper 70s on Sunday and Monday before temperatures drop on Tuesday.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has activated some of the state’s emergency resources due to possible severe weather across the state.

While the storms will occur almost outside of North Texas, severe storms could occur in East and Southeast Texas.

A Tornado Warning has been issued for our far southeastern Anderson, Freestone and Limestone counties until 7:00 p.m

DFW’s is expected to end at 11 a.m., while Love Field is expected to be under a ground closure until 11:30 a.m

A flash flood warning is in effect for Jack, Palo Pinto, Parker and Wise counties until 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

A flash flood warning is in effect for Bosque and Hill County until 11 a.m. Thursday.

Dallas-Forth Worth forecast

The rain will begin in North Texas around 9 a.m. and continue until about 3 p.m. Most thunderstorms are expected to peak between 11 a.m. and noon.

Residents should park their vehicles in covered areas during this time to avoid hail damage. The risk of hail is expected to decrease around 1 p.m

While quarter-sized hail and strong winds are the primary threats, moist air from the Gulf poses a slight risk of tornadoes in areas south of DFW, near Palestine and Corsicana.

Parts of the Metroplex are also experiencing heavy fog this morning.

Conditions improve towards the evening and temperatures rise to below 20°C on Friday.
