Dan Jackson confirms he will dedicate himself to the NFL after Georgia’s season ends

This time of year often sees college football players thinking about their future. For Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Dan Jacksonthat he will pursue his dreams at the NFL level once the Bulldogs’ season comes to an end.

Jackson shared that the goal going forward is to make it to the NFL. For now, however, his focus is on the upcoming task with Georgia.

“Yes sir, yes,” Dan Jackson said. “That was the goal. That was one of the goals I set for myself. Obviously right now I was just focused on this game and finishing it and trying to win another national championship. But that’s the goal, yes.”

Dan Jackson was a member of the class of 2019, where he was an unranked recruit. At that time, he started out as a member of the Georgia Boy Scout team and wore a redshirt. From there, he began to work his way into the mix on the defensive side of the ball. In 2021, he started four games and played in 15 games. Although he has since battled injuries, he has become a key player on defense and has since even earned a spot on the Senior Bowl watch list.

Over the course of his career, Jackson has played in a total of 45 games, recording 132 total tackles and five tackles for a loss. He has four career interceptions and five career passes defended.

Still, the focus is on Georgia’s goals this season. This means taking a deep run into the College Football Playoffs and winning the SEC Championship Game. The SEC Championship game will be played against the Texas Longhornsagainst whom the Bulldogs won a commanding away win back in October.

The Longhorns could bring wrinkles to the game. Specifically, finding a way to utilize young quarterbacks Arch Manning as a change Quinn Ewers. Still, Dan Jackson believes Georgia will be prepared for whatever Texas throws at them.

“Yeah, I think first and foremost they come from a great program. They’re both really smart guys. No one is exactly the same. We’ll definitely be watching a lot of movies this week like we have in the past. We’ll just be prepared for both. They’re both great athletes, yeah,” Jackson said.

“I mean, right now you could say that based on what we’ve seen. As I said, both are great athletes. We will be prepared for both.”

Regardless of whether Georgia beats Texas or not, the Bulldogs expect to compete in the College Football Playoff. However, a win would secure them a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
