Dane Key to Nebraska; Chip Trayanum to Toledo

The Kentucky Wildcats have been active in the transfer portal so far and are trying to rebuild the roster after a 4-8 loss this season. That also meant they experienced a significant exodus from the roster last year in Lexington.

This also includes top wide receiver Dane Key, who is now taking his talents to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, as he announced on Twitter on Christmas Eve. Key is eligible to play for one more season.

The Lexington native finished last season with career highs in receptions (47) and receiving yards (715 yards) as well as two touchdowns. Key finished his Kentucky career with 126 catches for 1,870 yards and 14 scores.

The Georgia Bulldogs were once considered the favorite for Key when he entered the portal, but he will instead reunite with wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts, who left Kentucky this offseason to take the same job in Lincoln.

Another Wildcats to enter the portal this offseason was running back Chip Trayanum. After coming to Lexington from Ohio State last season, Trayanum will return to the Buckeye State to finish his college career.

According to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos, Trayanum has committed to Toledo for next season.

An injury in fall camp kept Trayanum out for most of last season, and he never really managed to make the impact in Lexington that many expected him to make. But the BBN will get another chance to see Trayanum at Kroger Field when the Rockets open the season with the Cats in September.

Good luck to Trayanum in Toledo!
