Goins was in control of the final first-round answer in the Albums category when this answer appeared on the screen: “In 2014, Taylor Swift gave us this album named after a different year.”

The audience burst into laughter, knowing that Goins’ wildest dreams were about to come true, with the chance to shake off past embarrassments and restore his reputation.

Drew’s version didn’t disappoint, he buzzed in first and happily shouted the correct question: “What is ‘1989’?!”

The crowd went wild and host Ken Jennings echoed Goins’ enthusiasm and declared an end to any bad blood between the contestant and the Swifties.

“Salvation for Drew!” Jennings said to Goins, who won the game and stayed alive in the tournament.
