The Arizona Cardinals would have been a good landing spot for former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Regardless of whether or not the team was interested in acquiring him following his release and waivers, he will not be joining Arizona.

According to multiple reports, he is joining the Cardinals’ Week 13 opponent, the Minnesota Vikings. He signed with their training team.

He will receive the remainder of his 2024 salary (around $13.8 million) from the New York Giants, minus the more than $21,000 per week the Vikings will pay him as part of the practice squad.

Jones wanted to join a playoff contender and the Vikings are 9-2 and currently fifth in the NFC playoff race.

It’s highly unlikely that the Cardinals will take on Jones. He will only have been with the team for a few days and they have Sam Darnold as the starter and Nick Mullens as the backup.
