Danny Masterson was “incredibly supportive”

Rebecca Minkoff’s words in “The Second Seat” put her in the hot seat.

The fashion designer for her eponymous brand said her former boyfriend Danny Masterson, the star of That ’70s Show turned convicted rapist, was “incredibly supportive” of her early in her career.

Minkoff and Masterson are both practicing Scientologists, with the “Real Housewives of New York” star telling the podcast co-hosts that Masterson introduced her to “girls and actresses who were excited to wear my product.”

“I haven’t seen or spoken to Danny in over 10 years,” Minkoff said of Masterson. “He was incredibly supportive when I started. I didn’t know anyone,” Minkoff told co-hosts Tamra Judge and Teddi Mellencamp.

Minkoff can currently be seen as “Friend of” in the second part and the 15th season of the “RHONY” reboot. Mellencamp is an alum of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, while Judge has starred on and off on The Real Housewives of Orange County since the show’s second season.

Masterson was convicted last year of raping two women and sentenced to 30 years to life in prison. During the podcast interview, Minkoff remained silent on Masterson’s rape conviction, telling her “Real Housewives” costars that her previous comments were “all I can say,” adding that she “was not involved in the case” and “I didn’t do this either.”

From 1998 to 2006, Masterson starred alongside Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and Topher Grace on “That ’70s Show” before briefly reuniting with Kutcher in the now-canceled Netflix comedy series “The Ranch” in 2016. When a Los Angeles Police Department investigation came to light a year later, Masterson was written out of the series.

The conversation about Masterson began when Mellencamp asked whether she would rather talk about Scientology leader David Miscavige’s wife, Shelly Miscavige, or Masterson. She replied that she would “accept both.”

Minkoff, who also practices Judaism, has previously referred to Scientology as a “method.”

Scientology is a religion that has been mired in controversy over the past decade. Hollywood actress Leah Remini, a former Scientologist, has brought new attention to the dogmatic system of “beliefs and practices” founded by L. Ron Hubbard.

Numerous celebrities practice Scientology, including star actor Tom Cruise and “Grease” legend John Travolta.
