Marnus Labuschagne hopes he has returned to form after scoring 64 against India in Adelaide, but he admits it is still a bit too early to say he is back to his best.

“It’s nice to be in the runs and help the team to be able to win the game in the first session of the third day,” Labuschagne told Fox Cricket.

“Obviously there was a lot of talk over the course of the week and I got back to focusing on what I do best, which is hitting loads of cricket balls, watching loads of footage and figuring out where I felt I fell short.

“It’s a little early to talk about it, but I could find it in the innings.”

The batsman paused when asked if he felt the pressure and then explained his feelings.

“One thing that was very consistent with this team was the selection policy and the selection process – they were very consistent,” he said.

“So internally there wasn’t that much, but externally you know that if you’re not playing well you can’t hide from it, you can’t avoid it, you have to find a way out and, for me, that means myself staying true to how I got here as a player, and that means hitting the ball a lot, talking about it, talking to people and finding my way.”

“The series now, 1:1. Last week we lost a Test and were seemingly the worst team ever, and this week we finished day three with a result in the series. It’s nice that there’s so much talk about the game.”
