Delta passengers evacuate the flight on emergency slides during the aborted takeoff

A plane aborted takeoff at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on Friday morning, with passengers using emergency slides to eject, according to a statement from the airport posted online, which said four passengers reported minor injuries.

“Four passengers report minor injuries; one was transported and the remaining three were treated on site,” the airport said.

The incident involved a Boeing 757-300 with 201 passengers, two pilots and five flight attendants on board, Delta Air Lines said in an email to Fox News Digital.

“Delta’s flight crew followed established procedures to complete the takeoff of Flight 2668 from Atlanta (ATL) to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) following an indication of an engine problem,” the company noted in an emailed statement.

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our employees and customers and we apologize to our customers for their experiences. We are working to support our customers and get them to their destination as safely and quickly as possible,” the statement continued.

The airport noted in its statement that operations were delayed due to the incident and ongoing severe weather.

“The aircraft and the runway are expected to be cleared shortly,” the airport said.

“2024 was a great year for Delta, with our results reflecting industry differentiation and increased durability,” noted CEO Ed Bastian about the airline’s December quarter and 2024 financial results, according to a Friday press release.

“Sharing Delta’s success is at the core of our culture, and I’m pleased to recognize our employees’ outstanding efforts with $1.4 billion in profit-sharing payments next month,” he said.
