DeMarvion Overshown suffers “serious” knee injury

ARLINGTON, Texas – In a year in which the Cowboys had already struggled with injuries to stars like Dak Prescott, Zack Martin and DeMarcus Lawrence, another young Dallas star, DeMarvion Overshown, was at risk of injury in a 27-20 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals haunted.

Overshown’s right leg was rolled up by a Bengals offensive lineman in the fourth quarter. He remained on the ground in severe pain and his teammates immediately flagged down training staff on the sidelines for help. After the loss, head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed that Overshown’s injury was serious.

“I’ve been told it’s serious in nature, that’s really all I know. “It didn’t look good,” McCarthy said.

Overshown will undergo further tests on Tuesday to determine the extent of his knee injury. Before the start of his rookie season last year, Overshown tore a cruciate ligament in his left knee, forcing him to sit out the entire season. If this injury keeps him out of Dallas’ final four games, the Cowboys would lose their second-best player in both tackles and sacks.

As Overshown was helped back to the locker room, there was a remarkable shift in energy in the Dallas defense as his teammates and coaches felt his absence and the thought of the severity of the injury hit them hard.

“I think the whole team felt it because it didn’t look good…,” McCarthy said. “I know it definitely affected a lot of guys.”

After the game, Micah Parsons had tears in his eyes in the locker room as he talked about the injury to his new partner and “little brother,” with whom he gets along great when both are on the field at the same time.

“He doesn’t deserve this. He doesn’t have that. That’s my little brother, man…” Parsons said. “He’s been through so much. That’s not fair to him.”

Overshown took to social media after the game and seemingly confirmed the severity of his injury in a post on X.

“I wouldn’t wish that on anyone else! One of God’s toughest soldiers…Pray for me…” Overshown said in his post.
