We speak to Den of Thieves 2 writer/director Christian Gudegast and producer Tucker Tooley and race real Porsches

In 2018, viewers discovered an action movie treat. This strip was Den of thievesand it starred the still charming as hell lead. Gerard Butler and the great O’Shea Jackson Jr. was an instant hit with both audiences and critics. Therefore, it is not surprising that the feature is getting a sequel. And similar to the first, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera reunites Butler and Jackson. The larger sequel remains in the capable hands of filmmaker Christian Gudegast, who also wrote the screenplay.

While most films plan their opening with interviews, the people behind them are Den of thieves had something more adventurous in mind. I mean, we’re talking about fast cars that go over 100 miles per hour. And considering that a certain car, make and model has a certain amount of screen time. Mixing it up with a bunch of journalists and influencers might sound crazy, but it was more than a lot of fun. A few weeks ago, JoBlo was invited to return to the Porsche Driving Experience at the Porsche Experience Center Los Angeles. And it’s more than just a cool experience.

After checking in, each of us present was assigned a driving trainer. We then spent about thirty minutes on the course. If you’ve ever driven a Porsche, you know this. These things control the road so incredibly well that you almost forget how fast you’re actually going. However, I mastered the course pretty damn well, if I do say so myself. And yes, I am addicted to these cars.

In our first round of interviews, I had the pleasure of speaking with Christian Gudagast and Tucker Tooley. The two talked about bringing his team back for a second and the challenges of finally getting the sequel into theaters.
