Hanford, Calif. – Dense fog is creating hazardous driving conditions throughout the San Joaquin Valley, triggering a Dense Fog Warning through 11 a.m. Saturday. Motorists on Highway 99 and surrounding routes are urged to slow down, use dipped headlights and maintain greater distance between vehicles.

According to the National Weather Service, visibility is reduced to a quarter mile or less in many areas, with some places dropping to near zero. The notice highlights the risk of accidents due to limited visibility, particularly in the early morning hours. Travelers are advised to postpone non-essential travel until conditions improve by mid-morning.

The extended forecast shows gradual improvement as fog clears Saturday afternoon, resulting in partly sunny skies and high temperatures around 60°F. Sunday is expected to bring clearer conditions with maximum temperatures of up to 18°C ​​and light winds. Overnight low temperatures this weekend will be around 40°C, making for cooler evenings for outdoor New Year celebrations.

Heading into New Year’s Day, Hanford residents can look forward to sunny skies and high temperatures of 54°F. Patchy fog may return late Monday and Tuesday morning, but overall calm, dry weather is expected across the region throughout the week.
