Denver Nuggets Announce Key Starter Injury Announcement

The Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns wrapped up the NBA holiday season with their contest on Wednesday night. This was a rematch of Monday’s game, which Denver won by a final score of 117-90. Phoenix got back on the win list and rebounded with an impressive 110-100 win over their Western Conference opponent.

The Nuggets had five players in double figures on Monday, including starting forward Aaron Gordon. Gordon, who returned from a calf injury earlier this month, has been able to stay healthy for the Nuggets since his return, but was ruled out again Wednesday night.

During Wednesday’s game, the Nuggets announced an injury and said Gordon’s return was questionable. In the larger part of this announcement, the Nuggets cited the right calf tension for Gordon.

Via Nuggets: “Injury update: It is questionable whether Aaron Gordon will return with right calf strain.”

Considering Gordon struggled with a right calf injury early in the season that cost him several weeks, that’s concerning. The Nuggets will play the Cleveland Cavaliers again on Friday, so Gordon’s status will be kept an eye on until then.

Without Gordon for all but 19 minutes on Wednesday, the Nuggets were unable to beat the Suns. Nikola Jokic finished the game with 25 points and 15 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for Denver to win.

The Nuggets are now 16-12 in the NBA season.
