This is not good. New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr was injured while jumping on first down against the New York Giants. He was replaced by Jake Haener late in the fourth quarter.

Carr tried to jump over a couple of defenders after receiving the ball himself on a zone read and punching it to the outside, but he fell awkwardly and landed with his weight on his left, non-throwing arm. Depending on how the limb moves underneath him, it could be a wrist or forearm problem, but we won’t speculate further on that.

We also cannot rule out a concussion. The NFL’s independent neurological consultant met with Carr in the blue sideline medical tent and accompanied him to the locker room for further evaluation. Carr also hit his head on the grass when he fell. This could be a complicated injury for him.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
