Disney influencer Dominique Brown dies after medical emergency at event | US News

A Disney-inspired social media influencer, Dominique Brown, 34, died after a medical emergency during a luncheon in downtown Los Angeles hosted by pop culture merchandiser BoxLunch on December 5.

Brown founded Black Girl Disney in 2018 with her friend Mia Von in response to the lack of representation of Black women among Disney influencers.

An investigation into her cause of death is ongoing, SFGate reported.

In a statement to Us Weekly, BoxLunch said: “We are devastated by the death of Dominique Brown, a beloved member of the BoxLunch collective, who suffered a medical emergency at an event hosted by BoxLunch in Los Angeles on Thursday. Our thoughts are with her family and friends and we will do everything we can to support her and the BoxLunch Collective members and our team during this painful time.”

An unnamed source told Us Weekly that 911 was immediately called and that the company notified the venue of all guests’ food allergies. In Brown’s most recent Instagram post, she wore a Winnie the Pooh sweater and mentioned BoxLunch.

A People Magazine reporter at the event said Brown was immediately revived at the event. Most recently she attended the Disney premiere of the film Moana 2.

“That didn’t have to happen. 😔…it just wasn’t like that,” a friend of Brown’s wrote on Threads, posting photos of them together.

Brown’s brother wrote in a comment on her recent Instagram post, “I wanted to take a moment to thank her social media following for showing her so much love and light. While Disney brought her joy, finding a community that loved her and Disney as much as she did was unprecedented. I will miss my sister and best friend and the infectious smile she always had. I really thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️“
