Disney theme parks make big announcement of new character

A new experience inspired by the Emmy-winning series “Bluey” will premiere at Disney theme parks across the U.S. and on cruise ships.

Disney confirmed in a Dec. 19 press release that an upcoming Bluey experience will take place at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort and on the Disney Cruise Line.

The new Bluey experience will debut on Disney Cruise Line voyages in January 2025, departing Australia and New Zealand.

Ship passengers who visit the Bluey Experience can interact with the title character and her sister Bingo.

“From special meet-and-greets to an interactive and clue-filled game that ends in a dance party complete with Bluey’s signature moves, area families can have a magical vacation with their favorite blue heeler,” it says the press release.

The company has not yet announced details about the upcoming Bluey experience at theme parks in Florida and California.

Disney worked with BBC Studios and the producers of Bluey to develop some of the features of the upcoming experience.

The future experience was announced days after Disney and BBC Studios announced that a film named after the title character would be released in 2027.

Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, said the company was “thrilled to bring her story to life” and considered Bluey a “household name.”

He added that the company is also committed to watching young guests and their families make memories at its theme parks and cruise ships.

“It’s a beautiful day for boating and we’re incredibly excited to have Bluey and Bingo sailing on Disney Cruises, bringing Bluey’s magic to families on the high seas,” Ludo Studio revealed.

“The Heeler family’s debut at Disney Theme Parks and Cruises is truly the icing on the cake for an exceptional year for Bluey,” said Nicki Sheard, CEO of BBC Studios, Brands and Licensing, in the press release.

“We are committed to providing our fans with world-class experiences and can’t wait to open the doors to families next year.”

Bluey has already attracted millions of fans worldwide shortly after its premiere in Australia in 2018 and its debut in the US in 2019.

According to Ludio Studio co-founder Daley Pearson, the show was later named the most-watched show of 2024 in the US in an Instagram post.

Despite the show’s popularity, there was division on social media about whether a Bluey experience would be good for Disney.

Several X users were excited about the supplement, with one person admitting they “cried” with excitement.

At least two tweeters weren’t too happy with the upcoming experience.

One fan claimed: “Bluey needs to rake in the numbers on Disney Plus if Disney is willing to pay the royalties to have them in the parks at a time when they are getting rid of licensed characters and finding ways to get them paid.” Merchandise items to be spared.” .’

Various Reddit users gave more positive responses and one person hopes the experience plan doesn’t go “Kabluey.”

“My dream is a Bluey Land with highly interactive elements that kids and adults can enjoy together,” one Reddit user wrote in a post.

“My kids would love to spend a whole day there.” (And it better be big, because the crowd will be huge).’

Another Reddit user said that the upcoming experience didn’t fit the “Disney vibe,” and another added that Bluey was “pushing them to the test.”

Ahead of the experience’s announcement, there was already excitement on social media after Bluey creator Joe Brumm confirmed he was stepping away from the series.

Disney fans looking for new attractions other than “Blue” might be interested in the upcoming “Villains Land.”

D’Amaro announced last August at the D23 Expo that construction on the upcoming Walt Disney World expansion would begin in 2025.

“This land will be home to the villains you know and those you loathe, meaning you live happily ever after… It may feel like a distant dream,” D’Amaro said.

He added that “Villains Land” will be a “fearless new vision for what a Disney experience can be.”

Disney also confirmed that it will be adding a new ship called Disney Treasure, which will be christened in November 2024.

The ship has several areas dedicated to Disney films and theme park attractions and over 1,200 rooms.

Disney Treasure’s maiden voyage will be a seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral on December 21st.
