The Los Angeles Dodgers have already begun bolstering their roster to defend their 2024 World Series title by signing starter Blake Snell to a five-year, $182 million contract. Could one of their next moves be to trade outfielder Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros?

The 27-year-old slugger has quietly been a fixture for the Astros since his first full big league season in 2021. He slashed .280/.362/.527 while averaging 28 home runs, 29 doubles and 90 RBI, while allowing 77 runs scored per year during that time. His accolades include three All-Star Game selections, a Silver Slugger Award, a Gold Glove Award and three top-20 finishes in American League MVP Award voting.

Could the Dodgers make a move for Tucker at some point? It has not been publicly reported that they are seriously involved in trade negotiations with the Astros. However, Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer believes that Los Angeles could potentially become a “mystery team” for the outfielder. He created the following hypothetical deal that would send Tucker to Hollywood:

– Dodgers receive: Outfielder Kyle Tucker

– Astros receive: third baseman Max Muncy and right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller

Muncy could play a variety of roles for Houston. If Alex Bregman doesn’t re-sign with the club, he can take over at third base. Muncy could also become the Astros’ primary first baseman if Bregman returns or another acquisition for the hot corner occurs.

If Teoscar Hernández doesn’t return to LA, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman might be more interested in taking over for Tucker. He is estimated to earn $16.7 million in 2025. This will be his final season before he hits free agency next winter.
