Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been downgraded to doubtful for the team’s Week 17 road game against the Cleveland Browns due to a hip injury. Tagovailoa had limited practice all week.

In response, the Dolphins signed Skylar Thompson to the active roster — a likely sign that the 2023 Pro Bowler won’t be fit for Sunday.

Tagovailoa missed four games earlier this season with a concussion and is 6-5 as a starter in 2024. Thompson and Tyler Huntley started the games Tagovailoa missed, with Huntley 1-2 and Thompson 0-1. As the No. 2 QB, Huntley would likely be in the starting lineup if Tagovailoa can’t play against Cleveland.

This season, Tagovailoa leads the league with a 72.9 completion percentage while throwing for 2,867 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Huntley has thrown for 377 yards, a TD and an INT in three games. Thompson has passed for 187 yards in three games.
