President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday announced former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle as his choice for ambassador to Greece, citing a longtime ally who campaigned extensively with him and a romantic relationship his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., had.

“Kimberly has been a close friend and ally for many years,” Trump wrote on social media. “Her extensive legal, media and political experience and leadership, as well as her keen intellect, make her a highly qualified individual to represent the United States and protect its interests abroad.”

Guilfoyle is the latest person with close ties to the Trump family to receive a post in his second administration. The president-elect chose Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner, as ambassador to France. Trump also selected Massad Boulos, his daughter Tiffany Trump’s father-in-law, for an administration post. Guilfoyle was subpoenaed and appeared before the House committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol by a mob of Trump supporters seeking to overturn the 2020 election. According to committee chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., she was at the White House on the day of the attack.

She was once married to Gavin Newsom, the Democratic governor of California. They divorced in 2006. Guilfoyle was recently engaged to Trump Jr.
