During the national anthem, Trump saluted along with the military members in attendance.

Trump also participated in the contest throughout his presidency, for the first time in 2016, shortly after he won that year’s election. He has also been to the game every year of his presidency, including at West Point in 2020.

Overall, this is his sixth time since 2016 and his first since 2020. Throughout his presidency, he has been on the field for pregame rituals, including the coin toss.

For the first time, both programs enter the game with a combined 19 wins (Army 11-1, Navy 8-3).

With Army competing in the American Athletic Conference this season, both teams have spent time in the top 25. This will be their first meeting of the season and a non-conference game.

Aside from the bragging rights of their respective military academies, this year’s game marks the first time since 2017 that the winner will have a chance to capture the Commander in Chief’s Trophy, thanks to the Army and Navy’s victories over the Air Force this season. It is also the first time since 2017 that both teams enter the matchup having secured bowl games.
