Ann Selzer, the Register and Gannett – the parent company of the Register – listed as defendant. It cites a section of the Iowa Code on consumer fraud. In the lawsuit, Trump alleges that the November 2 poll, which showed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris leading by about three percentage points, amounts to election interference. “The Harris Poll was not a failure.” “In fact, it was an attempt to influence the outcome of the 2024 presidential election,” a court filing said. Just days after the election, Trump won Iowa by about 14 percentage points. The large discrepancy prompted Selzer & Company to initiate a review of its poll in 2024 “to ask every plausible question about what happened between Thursday evening of the previous week… and the counting of votes on Tuesday evening.” Selzer later announced in November that she would no longer conduct the Register’s Iowa poll. The lawsuit, filed late Monday night in Polk County, names pollster J. Ann Selzer, the Register and Gannett — the Register’s parent company — as defendants. It cites a section of the Iowa Code on consumer fraud.

In the lawsuit, Trump claims that the Nov. 2 poll, which showed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris leading by about three percentage points, amounts to election interference.

“The Harris Poll was not a ‘failure,’ but rather an attempt to influence the outcome of the 2024 presidential election,” a court filing said.

Just days after the poll, Trump won Iowa by about 14 percentage points. The large discrepancy prompted Selzer & Company to launch a review of its poll in 2024 “to ask every plausible question about what happened between Thursday evening of the previous week … and the counting of votes on Tuesday evening.”

Selzer announced later in November that she would no longer conduct the Register’s Iowa poll.

Trump announced on Monday that he planned to file a lawsuit.

“In my opinion it was a fraud,” Trump said. “It was election interference. She always understood me correctly, she is a very good pollster, she knows what she was doing.”
