Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel was rocked by an “explosion” as smoke billowed across the city

Smoke was seen rising from Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel today amid reports of an “explosion” in the Nevada city.

Eyewitnesses at the 64-story luxury hotel said an evacuation had taken place – while footage circulating on social media showed black smoke rising from the ground floor.

Unconfirmed reports on social media said the smoke was due to an “explosion” at the hotel – while officials have told GB News an “active incident” is underway.

Additional footage appears to show a burning Tesla cybertruck just meters from the hotel’s front door, with fire and smoke pouring from the electric vehicle.

A witness to the car fire who shared footage of the incident said: “The Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. That’s our luggage at the door and that’s where we were when it happened.”

In a statement released just before 6pm GMT, Las Vegas police said: “We are investigating a vehicle fire at the entrance to Trump Towers. The fire is out.”

A witness previously wrote on social media: “My friend who did the Grucci fireworks in Las Vegas just texted me that there was a massive explosion at Trump Tower in Vegas.”

Another said: “Some kind of explosion at Trump Tower in Las Vegas. I have no idea what has happened so far.”

The Trump Hotel in the heart of “Sin City” bills itself as a “sophisticated non-smoking, luxury gambling destination” just meters from the Las Vegas Strip.

It has towered over the city since 2008 – and is the tallest residential building in Las Vegas.

The golden skyscraper is one of three Trump International hotels in the U.S., with similar destinations under the president-elect’s brand in New York City and Chicago.

GB News has reached out to Tesla, Trump Hotels and the Las Vegas Fire Department for comment.
