Douglas County QB-DJ Bordeaux’s status is uncertain ahead of the state semifinal against Grayson

Douglas County starting quarterback DJ Bordeaux’s status is uncertain ahead of Friday’s Class AAAAAA semifinal game against Grayson.

When Bordeaux played West Forsyth in its quarterfinal game last week, he left with just under eight minutes left in the third quarter and never returned after taking a hard hit from Wolverines linebacker James McCallar.

Bordeaux had completed 7 of his 13 pass attempts for 75 yards and a touchdown up to that point. The Tigers did not attempt another pass in the game after Bordeaux was eliminated and instead switched to direct snaps to running back James Johnson, who was the player of the game.

Johnson finished the game with 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Following Bordeaux’s exit, running backs Zamarcus Lindley and Rah’Keith Kelly also received significant playing time, each rushing for more than 40 yards in the game.

If Bordeaux can’t play Grayson on Friday, that certainly changes things. The three-star quarterback has thrown for 2,645 yards and 21 touchdowns this season and has been a huge asset to their offense this season.
