New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye responded to criticism of head coach Jerod Mayo and offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt following a 24-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

“A lot of conversations about our coaching staff and things like that,” Maye said, via Mark Daniels of MassLive.com. “To be completely honest, I think it’s nonsense. Coach Mayo, we’re behind him. I’ve just called it great the last few weeks.

“There are guys who aren’t even playing who are screaming on the sidelines and wanting to win. I think we’re building something good, something that feels right here,” he added, according to Daniels. “And I’m proud to be a patriot.”

Sunday’s loss marked New England’s fifth straight and dropped the team to 3-12 this season.
