TORONTO – Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is out against the Toronto Raptors due to illness and a back injury.

Green took part in team training on Sunday, but was not at the shootaround on Monday morning due to illness. The injury report also listed that he had a left disc problem.

However, head coach Steve Kerr said he does not believe Green’s back injury is related to the injury that kept him out during part of the 2021-22 season. Green missed 26 games this season due to injuries, including a back problem.

“It’s always a concern,” Kerr said when asked about Green’s back. “I remember a few years ago, I think in season 22, he missed 15 to 20 games when the back flared up, so we just have to keep on top of it. The coaching staff is doing a great job with him and Draymond has done a great job completing his rehab and making sure he stays in good shape.

“I think he should be fine in the future. We’re just taking it day by day.”

The Warriors got Andrew Wiggins back. Wiggins left the team last Thursday while in Detroit to return to San Francisco for personal reasons. He took part in training on Sunday.

Gary Payton II (calf) and Brandin Podziemski (abdomen) both remain out but are close to a possible return. Payton completed practice on Sunday. Kerr said Podziemski was practicing during the team’s shootout Monday.
