“Duck Dynasty” legend is retiring after 25 years

John Godwin, a decoy technician and duck call maker for the famed “Duck Dynasty” team, announced his retirement on a Jan. 9 episode of the group’s “Duck Call Room” podcast.

“25 years, that’s enough,” Godwin said in the episode.

Godwin, who added he was “ready to go fishing,” appeared on the popular reality show, which aired from 2012 to 2017.

Duck Dynasty’s Lisa Robertson celebrated Godwin’s retirement in a social media post.

“Get ready for some honey-do’s! You know Paula Godwin can’t just let you sit around and eat candy!” Robertson posted.

“Duck Dynasty” has been in the headlines lately.

Last month it was reported that Phil Robertson had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

“Phil is not doing well,” Phil’s son Jase Robertson said during Friday’s episode of the “Unashamed with the Robertson Family” podcast. “I think I spoke on the 1000th podcast, we tried to figure out the diagnosis but according to the doctors he has some kind of blood disease that is causing all sorts of problems.

“It’s like an acceleration and it causes problems with his entire body. And he has early-stage Alzheimer’s. So when you put those things together, he’s really not doing well. He fights.”
