DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University has accepted an invitation to participate in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl and will meet Ole Miss on Thursday, January 2, 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Kickoff at EverBank Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN. The gridiron meeting between the Blue Devils (9-3) and Rebels (9-3) will be the first between the two teams and Duke’s first appearance in the Gator Bowl.

Duke’s defense enters bowl season leading the country in fumbles recovered (14) and ranks second nationally in tackles for loss per game (9.17), tied for third in sacks per game (3.33) and sixth in total turnovers (26). The Blue Devils are led by first-team All-ACC selections Chandler Riverswho recorded 52 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, three interceptions, nine pass breakups, two caused fumbles, two quarterback pressures and one fumble recovery. Defense ends Wesley Williams And Vincent Anthony Jr. owns a total of 23.0 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks, while Duke’s linebacker quartet – Cameron Bergeron, Tre Freeman, Alex Howard And Ozzie Nicholas – combined for 308 tackles, 28.5 TFL, 10.0 sacks and 10 turnovers (four INTs and six fumble recoveries).


Offensively, Duke is one of four schools nationally to have multiple wide receivers with 740 or more receiving yards and seven or more touchdown catches as All-ACC picks Jordan Moore And Eli Pancol both exceed these marks. quarterback Maalik Murphy has already set the Duke single-season record with 26 touchdown passes and is 67 yards away from becoming the fifth Blue Devil quarterback to throw for more than 3,000 yards in a season. Additionally All-ACC selection Brian Parker II And Caleb Krings Anchor a Blue Devil offensive line that ranks second in the ACC in fewest sacks allowed per game (1.00).


Duke holds an all-time record of 8-8 in bowl games and enters this year’s postseason having won five straight postseason contests, tied for the second-longest streak nationally. The Blue Devils also appeared in the Rose Bowl (1938 and 1941 seasons), the Sugar Bowl (1944), the Orange Bowl (1954 and 1957), the Cotton Bowl (1960), the All American Bowl (1989), and the Hall of Fame Bowl (1994), Belk Bowl (2012), Chick-fil-A Bowl (2013), Hyundai Sun Bowl (2014), Pinstripe Bowl (2015), Quick Lane Bowl (2017), Walk-On’s Independence Bowl (2018), Military Bowl (2022) and 76® Birmingham Bowl (2023).
