Durant and Beal give Phoenix the lead at halftime

The Phoenix Suns (15-15) play the Golden State Warriors (15-15) on Saturday, airing on Arizona’s Family (Chapter 3 in Phoenix) and NBA TV at 6:30 p.m

Both teams are playing their second consecutive game and the second of their four-game Pacific Division series. The Suns won their last game against the Warriors on November 30th, 113-105.

Phoenix and Golden State have been struggling lately, with both teams losing seven of their last 10 games. Phoenix has lost three of its last four games without Devin Booker (left groin). This also includes the 98:89 home loss against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday. Booker remains sidelined for Saturday’s game. The Suns are led by Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal.

The Stephen Curry-led Warriors have been in a deeper hole for more than a month and have lost six of their last seven games, including a 102-92 loss at the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.

The Suns hit back in the 2nd quarter, O’Neale was injured

Bradley Beal (game-high 22 points) and Kevin Durant (18) led the Suns to another lead at halftime, 65:61. Ryan Dunn was also hot, shooting 4 of 7 for nine points.

The first half ended with an off-balance but controlled deep 3 by the Warriors’ Steph Curry (15 points). Draymond Green took good shots for the Warriors and scored 16 points, going 6 of 7 from the field, including going 3-for-3 from 3 in the second quarter. Jonathan Kuminga has 14 points.

The Suns began the quarter with an 8-2 run until 9:10 and took another lead of 16-2 to take their biggest advantage with 10 with 4:21 left in the half. Their top forward in December, Royce O’Neale, suffered an ankle injury when he blocked Dennis Schroeder’s layup attempt with just under a minute left. He had to be helped off the pitch.

Phoenix’s largest lead was five, Golden State’s was eight. There were three lead changes and three ties. The Suns got off to a hot start, shooting 7 of 11, but finished the quarter 11 of 22. The Warriors had the longest run of the first half at 8-1 after the score was tied at 17-17.

The Suns’ starting five is Tyus Jones, Bradley Beal, Ryan Dunn, Kevin Durant and Mason Plumlee.

The Warriors will open with Dennis Schröder taking over at point, Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green after he was placed available, and Trayce Jackson-Davis at center.

The undermanned Phoenix will be without several other key players besides Booker. Their starting center Jusuf Nurkic will serve his three-game suspension for his involvement in an altercation against Dallas. Grayson Allen (concussion protocol) and Bol Bol (left knee contusion) are also out. Two of the Suns’ two-way players, Collin Gillespie and TyTy Washington Jr., are missing from the G League.
