Dustin Jacoby vs. Vitor Petrino UFC on ESPN 63 preview

Jacoby (19-9-1 MMA, 7-6-1 UFC) comes into this main card matchup needing a win. Jacoby is 1-4 in his last 5 fights. Although his only win at this stretch was a first-round finish of Kennedy Nzechukwu last August, he finished in almost the same time in his last outing against Dominick Reyes in June. … Petrino (11-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) also comes off a first-round loss. Anthony Smith stopped him with a guillotine at UFC 301, handing the Brazilian his first professional loss.

Dustin Jacoby vs. Vitor Petrino UFC on ESPN 63 Expert Pick, Prediction

The main card will be joined by another light heavyweight offering in the form of Jacoby vs. Petrino.

There’s no denying that Jacoby was in a tough spot, but I believe a lot of those losses can be attributed to a particular style that a southpaw counterattacks.

Not only does Petrino not fit that fighter profile, I’m not even sure Petrino knows what fighter profile he fits at this point in his career.

Aside from making incredibly gross mistakes that lost him a submission to Anthony Smith last time out, Petrino’s game in general still feels a bit disjointed, despite being as athletic and skilled as he looks.

As long as Jacoby can use the larger octagon to his advantage and stay put, I suspect the American will survive the early storms and pull away down the stretch.

Jacoby was unanimously chosen.
