Eagles News: Saquon Barkley talks about pursuing Eric Dickerson

Let’s get to it Philadelphia Eagles Left…

Saquon Barkley talks about chasing Eric Dickerson’s NFL rushing record – NBCSP
“I know a lot about Eric Dickerson,” Barkley said. “I know he has the record. He’s had it for 40 years. Obviously I heard the speech. I know the number. I know what it takes to get it. “I’ve kind of played around with it, with the emotions I feel about it, but the attitude is that you don’t have to be afraid of it, you have to embrace it.” It’s there. Challenge yourself and try to get it. But at the end of the day, the most important thing is to win football games.” With a big game in the next three games, Barkley could give himself the opportunity to break Dickerson’s mark before the season finale against the Giants, his former team, which Nick Sirianni could allow him to be taken out a week early if the Eagles are stuck in their playoff seed. To set the record in 16 games, he would have to average 161 yards rushing against the Steelers, Commanders and Cowboys.

Eagles Vibes Check Week – BGN
Because the Steelers don’t care. Vibes are never an issue under Mike Tomlin. You’ll have some bumps along the way, but this is the steadiest hand in football. Diontae Johnson has played just 17 and notoriously not 18 snaps for the Ravens with 0 catches since Tomlin shaded him in a press conference. Kenny Pickett became an Eagle four days after telling Tomlin he wasn’t happy about Russell Wilson being QB1 in OTAs. If the Eagles beat the Steelers at home, who are missing a few key players, they will have accomplished everything this week. But if not, if the offense gets off to another slow start, another abysmal passing performance from Jalen Hurts, another game in which AJ Brown is only targeted four or five times, if we get a long-overdue turnover from Jalen Hurts – then He never has. If he has played five games in a row without a turnover, he is currently playing four games in a row. Then we’ll see what this team is capable of.

Eagles chants erupt as Bill Belichick is introduced at North Carolina basketball game – PhillyVoice
Bill Belichick is no longer in the NFL and is headed to the college game as the new coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels, but Super Bowl LII will follow him wherever he goes. Belichick, the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach, appeared at the North Carolina game at the Dean Smith Center on Saturday. The Tar Heels host the La Salle Explorers from Philadelphia. Of course, even though there weren’t many La Salle fans in Chapel Hill for the game, Belichick’s appearance on the court erupted in chants of “EAGLE-S” from the few fiery people who made the trek down from Philly. The La Salle Hoops podcast The Gola Standard was there and had video of it.

NFL Week 15 Picks, Schedule, Odds, Injuries, Fantasy Picks – ESPN
Bold Prediction: AJ Brown will score at least four goals in the first quarter. To quell the potential conflict surrounding Philadelphia’s passing game, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Eagles tried to force the ball to Brown early. – Walder

NFL Week 15 Betting Notebook – PFF
So how you bet on this game largely depends on whether you believe 1) the Eagles can play from the front or 2) the Eagles offensive line can keep Hurts clean against one of the NFL’s most talented pass-rush units. If Hurts has clean pockets to work from, Brown and Smith will have chances against a Steelers defense that lives in the single-high. I expect Joey Porter Jr. to see mostly Brown, which could limit his production. When Porter loses, he tends to grab, which means yards to the offense, but not to the wide receiver he’s covering. However, Brown has been one of the top players when it comes to man coverage for years, so it’s certainly a matchup he can win. I prefer DeVonta Smith because he will likely see less of Porter.

Eagles mourn NFL champion Riley Gunnels – PE.com
The Eagles are saddened to learn of the passing of NFL champion Riley Gunnels, who bled out well after his playing days and passed on his love of the Eagles to his family. He was 87 when he died on Monday. Gunnels was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1959 as a defensive tackle after starting for three years as an offensive tackle for the University of Georgia. He learned the tricks of the trade, but was released by the Steelers at the end of training camp. The Eagles brought him aboard in 1960 and he combined the skills he honed in Pittsburgh with his hulking 6-foot-3, 253-pound frame to form a key reserve in championship defenses.

Steelers vs. Eagles: BTSC Staff Predictions for Week 15 – Behind The Steel Curtain
The prospects for this game seem quite bleak at first glance. 6.5 point underdog, away against a team the Steelers haven’t won an away game against since 1965. They have to do without their best wide receiver. They will be without one of their top defenders in the secondary in George Pickens and top run defender De’Shon Elliott, as well as another anchor on the defensive line (and locker room) in Larry Ogunjobi. Still, it doesn’t seem like much of a moment for this team, which has shown grit and resilience despite the league’s many, many doubts. Philadelphia is on a nine-game winning streak and has one of the league’s best rushing attacks – further underscoring how much Elliott’s loss in this game could mean. This has all the makings of a classic low-scoring physical battle with the last team standing emerging victorious. Pittsburgh’s ability to contain rushing QBs this season (not without Elliott’s contribution, of course) and the number of playmakers who can create turnovers should make it at least close. Washington Commanders Roster Change: Kicker Insurance and Jamison Crowder Returns from IR – Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders announced four roster changes ahead of Sunday’s road game against the New Orleans Saints. WR Noah Brown suffered a serious kidney injury in the Week 13 game against the Tennessee Titans. Head coach Dan Quinn said that would likely keep him out for the rest of the season, and the team requested WR KJ Osborn be claimed off waivers from the New England Patriots. Brown was officially placed on injured reserve today. Washington gets another wide receiver back from injured reserve. Jamison Crowder was placed on IR with a calf injury on Oct. 2 and his 21-day practice window opened on Monday when the team returned from his bye. He was fully involved in practice all week and had a questionable rating as he was still on IR. Crowder will be available to play WR and help with returns if needed, unlike Osborn, who will likely need another week to integrate into Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.

Report: Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs will undergo season-ending surgery – Blogging The Boys
The Dallas Cowboys’ injury bug continues. Cornerback Trevon Diggs, who was listed as questionable for the Cowboys’ Week 15 game against the Carolina Panthers, has been downgraded to loss due to a knee injury, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Not only is he out on Sunday, but it is also reported that he will undergo season-ending surgery.

Stephen Jones ‘can’t imagine’ seeing Micah Parsons play anywhere else as Cowboys head into crucial 2025 offseason – NFL.com
The Cowboys are 5-8 heading into tonight’s game against the Panthers, and in the words of general manager Stephen Jones, “they’re just trying to win a game.” For Dallas, it’s been the kind of season that will end in disappointment no matter how the final four games of the regular season go. That’s why the team’s officials will spend the offseason examining how they got there and what led them down this frustrating path. Notable: Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, vice president of player personnel Will McClay and other members of team leadership will examine the impact that signing high-profile, high-profile players has on the rest of their roster. “To me, it would be irresponsible if you didn’t look at the whole body of work and the bigger picture every year and how these guys fit into that bigger picture,” Stephen Jones told NFL.com at the conclusion of the NFL’s December league meeting in Las Colinas. Texas, on Wednesday, “and how we want to think about our team in terms of the bigger picture going forward.” With a potential blockbuster contract extension for star defenseman Micah Parsons on the horizon, this study could get extremely interesting.

Week 15 Rooting Guide for New York Giants Fans: First Overall Pick Scenarios – Big Blue View
The Athletic currently gives the Giants a 41% chance of finishing with the first pick in the draft, while the Pro Football Network gives the Giants a 38.9% chance of being on the clock right at the end of the season. However, as PFN explains, no team currently “controls their destiny” when it comes to the first pick in the draft. This is because tiebreakers involve far too many pieces that the teams have no control over. The only thing the Giants – or the Raiders for that matter – can do is lose. In addition to the two two-win teams, there are currently six other three-win teams, and a lone Giants win could potentially drop them from the top-2 pick all the way down to 8th overall.

18 Things Jake Haener Looks Like Because He Certainly Doesn’t Look Like an NFL QB – SB Nation
The Saints are forced to make a change at QB after Derek Carr suffered an injury to his non-throwing hand, and Jake Haener gets the nod. It comes with the realization that no one in the history of sports has looked less like an athlete than Jake Haener.
