Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are about to become a family!

Eddie’s son Eric Murphy popped the question to Martin’s daughter Jasmin Lawrence on Wednesday, November 27, the couple announced in a sweet video shared to Instagram on Saturday, November 30.

Titled “Spend My Life with You” by Eric Benét, the engagement video first shows Eric decorating a room with candles and bouquets of roses – and covering the floor with petals – before delving into Jasmin’s reaction when she takes the stage in the first one Just.

Eric then gets down on one knee and opens the ring box, to which Jasmine says, “It’s beautiful. Oh my God,” before exclaiming, “Yes,” and giving her voice actress love a kiss.

In the caption of their joint post, Jasmine and Eric wrote, “We are engaged!! God has truly blessed us with a love that feels like a destiny.”

“We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter ❤️❤️,” the couple continued. “A special thank you to everyone who made this moment so beautiful!!”

Although it’s unclear exactly when the comedy icons’ children started dating, they announced their relationship on Instagram in June 2021, with Eric posting photos of the couple with the caption, “Head over heels in love with YOU.” He added the hashtags: “#MyOtherHalf,” “#EquallyYoked,” and “#ILoveYou.”

Weeks later, Jasmin posted a sweet birthday tribute to her then-boyfriend on Instagram, calling him “my love” and declaring, “I am so incredibly blessed to know you, love you and have you by my side. “

Jasmin – who is following in her father’s footsteps and pursuing an acting career – also spoke about how she and Eric met. “It wasn’t even our dads, and they did two movies together, they’re friends,” she said InTouch weekly in January 2022 and explained that it was actually her uncle who brought her and Eric together.

“We became really good friends because we bonded on a lot of things,” she added of her now-fiancé, who is the oldest of Eddie’s 10 children. “And over time it just became more.”

Martin, 59, spoke during an appearance on US television show “ Jimmy Kimmel Live! in June 2022 and joked that his daughter and Eddie’s son might have “a comedy superbaby” together.

“We haven’t talked about it,” Martin said of himself and 63-year-old Eddie. “We just stay out of their business and let them do their own thing and respect their thing.”

But Martin had a thought about a future wedding between the two. “I’m going to try to get Eddie to pay for it,” he told host Jimmy Kimmel.

Eddie later responded to Martin’s comment, jokingly telling Canadian broadcaster Etalk: “That’s not how it works.”

“My daughter (Bria) just got married and I had to pay – really pay,” he said Comes 2 America Star continued, referencing the tradition of the bride’s father footing the wedding bill. “You have to do the same, Martin.”

Eric previously supported his future father-in-law Bad boys for life Star’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in April 2023. Following the event, he posted a tribute to Martin on Instagram, praising his “unconditional love” for Jasmin.

“From the moment I met you, @martinlawrence, I knew that you were not only one of the funniest and most talented actors on the planet, but also an amazing father,” he wrote. “Her unconditional love and support for Jasmin not only shaped her into the beautiful, strong and compassionate woman she is today, but also helped create the incredible partner she is to me.”

“I am forever grateful for the way you raised her and for continuing to be a pillar of strength for everyone around you,” Eric added.
