Egg Bowl: Live updates, score, highlights

Ole Miss needs some madness this week to crack the 12 team College Football Playoffs. But before the Rebels can worry about positioning and reaching the postseason, they have to win Eggshell and get through Mississippi State.

The rivalry began in 1901 and has been played every year since 1944, with Ole Miss winning three of the last four games. The Rebels lost in Florida last week. Ole Miss is ranked No. 14 in the College Football Playoff rankings and is 8-3. He needs Vanderbilt to upset Tennessee and lose Penn State or Indiana. Alabama was ahead of them in the CFP rankings at No. 13.

Mississippi State is 2-9 and has yet to win an SEC Jeff Lebbys first year in Starkville. But anything can happen in the eggshell.

Traditionally played on Thanksgiving evening, the Egg Bowl was moved to Black Friday this year. Mississippi State at Ole Miss begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
