Elite QB Julian Lewis signs with the Colorado Buffaloes

Carrollton (Ga.) four-star quarterback Julian Lewis has co-signed Colorado.

The 6-foot-1, 186-pound Lewis is the No. 39 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings – a weighted average that takes into account all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 6 quarterback in the class and the No. 6 recruit from the state of Georgia.

Lewis initially committed to USC in August 2023 as a member of the class of 2026 before reclassifying over the winter. After over a year with the Trojans, Lewis left Southern Cal on November 17th before transferring to Colorado on November 21st.

“It’s a huge opportunity! There’s no denying what Coach Prime has been able to build in two seasons. “I had the opportunity to get to know him and believe he can develop me into the player and person I want to be,” Lewis said in a statement following his signing. “Coach Shurmur has been an offensive coordinator and head coach in the NFL, so he knows exactly what is needed at the next level. Coach Prime will use the best player, whether it’s a freshman or a reserve.”

In his final high school football season, Lewis completed 75.8 percent of his passes for 3,272 yards and 44 touchdowns.

Lewis has a zero value of $962,000. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that determines the Projected Annual Value (PAV) of high school and college athletes. The NIL rating is not intended to be an indicator of the value of the NIL transactions an athlete has completed to date. Rather, it describes the value of an athlete at a certain point in time.

Julian Lewis Scouting Summary

On3’s scouting and ranking team writes this about Lewis as a potential candidate.

“Smooth, productive signal-caller with the skills of an accurate distributor. Measured at 6 feet, 186 pounds with a 9 ⅜ inch hand at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Has been touted as a prospect receiving middle school offers for some time. Was initially a member of the 2026 cycle before being reclassified to 2025. A productive and efficient passer who plays in a high classification. As a junior, he completed 66.4% of his passes for 3,094 yards (11.1 yards per attempt) and 48 touchdowns against two interceptions. He is technically sophisticated and can consistently imitate his exaggerated throwing movements. Shows the ability to place passes without much deviation in position. Fast and decisive decision maker. Dangerous when working above midfield on RPOs. Effective when processing game actions. Works at a high level in a clean bag. Plays in an offense that often relies on quick passing.

“The youngest top quarterback prospect in the 2025 cycle, turning 17 every month of his senior season. He’s not particularly physically impressive at this point, and post-reclassification arm strength is at the bottom of the list among highly rated peers at the position. First and foremost, a quarterback with good structure – he needs to improve his skills as a rusher (no rushing touchdowns in two varsity seasons) and improviser against pressure as well as size and play strength to compete against contact in the pocket. A skilled passer whose ceiling will be determined by his level of physical development and improvement in his athleticism and movement skills.”
