Elon Musk reveals in festive “Ozempic Santa” post that he takes Mounjaro for weight loss

A slim-looking Elon Musk announced on Wednesday that he was using Mounjaro – after previously expressing support for similar weight-loss drugs as a way to curb America’s obesity epidemic.

The billion-dollar Tesla, SpaceX and

Musk called himself “Ozempic Santa” in the X post, noting it was “like Cocaine Bear, but Santa and Ozempic!”

“Technically, Mounjaro, but that doesn’t have the same ring to it,” he clarified.

Like Ozempic, Mounjaro is a GLP-1 inhibitor – a class of drugs designed to help people with diabetes regulate their blood sugar and insulin levels.

However, Americans are increasingly using GLP-1 inhibitors to successfully lose weight.

Musk, 53, noted that he preferred Mounjaro to Ozempic because taking “high doses” of the latter drug made him “fart and burp like Barney from The Simpsons.”

“Mounjaro appears to have fewer side effects and be more effective,” said the new head of President-elect Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency.

Musk has long advocated for widespread use of GLP-1 inhibitors to combat obesity – a position that clashes with Health and Human Services Secretary-designate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s stance on the drug.

Kennedy, 70, has argued that getting Americans to eat healthier would be a more cost-effective way to tackle the obesity crisis.

Musk’s support for GLP-1 inhibitors has earned him praise from the liberal hosts of “The View,” one of whom, Whoopi Goldberg, has also admitted to taking Mounjaro.

“Elon is right!” Goldberg explained the division between the new DOGE chief and the HHS secretary during a discussion earlier this month.

The 69-year-old comedian later showed off her own slim figure after revealing to the audience that two years ago, before she started taking Mounjaro, she weighed almost 300 pounds.

Musk, who has publicly stated that he does not like working out, previously admitted to using Wegovy, another GLP-1 inhibitor, in 2022.
