Emmanuel Acho blasts Ohio State coach Ryan Day after Michigan fight

Ohio State football coach Ryan Day is facing some criticism for not doing more to end the post-game battle between his team and Michigan after the Buckeyes’ 13-10 loss on Saturday.

Among them is former college football and NFL linebacker and current Fox Sports 1 analyst Emmanuel Acho.

“Also, Ryan Day, your entire team is in the middle of a fight and you’re standing on the sidelines like, ‘What happened?’ Huh!?” Acho wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday. “Get your butt on the field and tell your players to go to the locker room.”

Acho wasn’t content to just bash the Buckeyes coach.

“Ryan Day, the HEAD coach, just stands there and does nothing while his senior captain, Jack Sawyer, screams withering, ‘You don’t fucking plant a flag on our damn field,'” Acho wrote in another post on X with a another video of Day standing on the field.

“When coaches have to lead, the coaching day freezes in the midst of chaos.”

Day was standing in front of the Ohio State University Marching Band waiting for Carmen Ohio to perform when the fight broke out. Videos later showed Day standing nearby.

The postgame fight on the field was the second scuffle during Saturday’s contest between Ohio State and Michigan. It started when a group of Michigan players tried to place the Wolverines flag on top of the Ohio State logo at the 50-yard line.

The first scuffle occurred in the second quarter after Michigan’s Jyaire Hill wrestled Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith off the field, causing a field judge on the Wolverines’ sideline to be overthrown.

With Saturday’s loss, Day became the fourth Ohio State coach ever to lose four straight games in the rivalry series against Michigan. He is 1-4 all-time against the Wolverines.

After the game, Day told the assembled media at Ohio Stadium in his press conference that he did not know all the details of the fight that broke out after the game.
