Connor GaydosA man associated with a satirical project about the reboot of energy company Enron was hit in the face with a cake in New York City on Thursday. A video has emerged of the 28-year-old entering a building in New York City before someone throws a cake at his face. The video quickly went viral on social media.

Here is the video:

Enron, an energy company based in Houston, Texas, went bankrupt and ceased operations in 2007. But in the first week of December, a company posing as Enron announced that it was reopening, 27 years after closing. Gaydos was announced as the company’s new CEO, along with Magan Redino as COO, Daniel Wong as Chief Technology Officer and Rich Sybert as General Counsel.

The return was announced last week with a new website, billboards in the Houston area and a social media account under the name “Enron.” A video was published online showing the company’s comeback with the original logo unchanged. Additionally, a full-page ad appeared in the Houston Chronicle, clearly displaying the Enron logo alongside the slogan.

Houston-based news station KHOU 11 conducted a detailed investigation into the company and claimed it was Enron. The site’s terms and conditions stated that it is a “First Amendment-protected parody depicting performance art and intended for entertainment purposes only.”

Additionally, KHOU11 revealed that trademark records show the Enron logo is owned by Arkansas-based “The College Company,” which uses it to sell clothing. The company is run by the Gaydos, co-founders of Birds Aren’t Real, a satirical conspiracy theory movement.
