Every winter my skin becomes cracked, irritated and downright angry thanks to the shorter days, colder temperatures, multiple layers of clothing, heaters running at full blast everywhere, and a lack of humidity in the air. Normally I don’t feel the need to reach for a special “night cream” as the regular moisturizer I use during the day works well, but over the last few weeks my skin has been crying out for a little more care and hydration. When it comes to any category of skin care, I always look for clinically proven and medical-grade formulas whenever possible, including the most basic creams and moisturizers.

While there are a few Korean beauty products (K-beauty to those in the know) that I’ve loved for years, the holy grail snail mucin serum that I once used for religious reasons has disappeared from my daily routine, as has my previous collection of sheet and lip masks. In my search for a thirst-quenching night cream with added anti-aging benefits, I discovered the luxury medical-grade skincare line, Dr. Rossi DERM MD. The brand’s formulas draw on the wisdom of Korean skincare traditions and each formula is based on Dr. Rossi’s proprietary Bio-Theriac complex, which combines biomimetic sea anemone peptides, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid in an optimized ratio to combat premature aging through skin sensitization. The best-selling skin-repairing Night Synthesis Cream seemed to be exactly what my skin needed (it also doesn’t hurt that the enviably ageless Martha Stewart is reportedly a fan of the concentrated cream).

Without being overly heavy or greasy – two characteristics of the skincare formula that are a total showstopper in my opinion – the night cream is still rich, emollient and full of science-backed ingredients that not only retain its complexion-enhancing properties but also improve skin Quickly rejuvenates dull skin. When I say this cream is dense, I am Really No joke – if you turn the jar upside down, the formula stays put like an upside down Dairy Queen Blizzard. Despite its density and viscosity, I apply it under makeup during the day and the formula absorbs quickly enough so that no oil residue is left behind, which is another requirement of mine.

Within just a week of using the cream, the fine lines around my crow’s feet and under my eyes caused by dehydration have significantly reduced. When I wake up, my skin appears firmer, brighter and more radiant. Additionally, despite the dry climate and rampant seasonal cedar allergies, the broken capillaries, redness and peeling of the skin (probably also due to my retinoid consumption) have almost disappeared. Priced at just under $200, this luxury night cream is definitely an investment, but well worth it if, like mine, your skin is crying out for a break from these drier winter months.
